The top 5 submissions for April are:
1. A Men's Room Monologue I love the humor in this one. Basically it's about everything that is wrong with going the men's public washroom.
2. Las aventuras de Mr.Coo A completly wacky cartoon with no real storyline. Just a man and environment that constantly morphs in completly unexpected ways. Really imaginative and entertaining.
3. The Child That Smelt Odd The man that did this one... Is so weird. He's got a twisted, creepy way of looking at things that I cannot say I enjoy. Basicly, this is a satire about the foibles of banning free speech (the logical extreme extension of what could happen if all those right groups get their way with banning ads, TV programs and anything else that "causes" people to do bad things). A good lesson actually and it's got humor that made me laugh at times as well.
4. The Non-Livingstons #001 A family of zombies have moved and today is the son's first day of school. A well made movie with good comic elements and an important lesson on ostracizing those that are different then yourself. I can't say I was totally taken by it but DID I love the opening talk between the father and son. First in a series
- The Non-Livingstons #002 The boy's first day of school continued.
5. Kitten Cannon! this was actually released at the end of April but there was a mixup so it ended up an entry for and winning in May in addition to having been in the April contest (which it came close to winning as well). We were promised that this kind of mistake would not occur again. On to the game! Shoot a helpless kitten out of a cannon and have it land on spikes and all sorts of nasty things. The object is to have it go as far as it can before stopping or getting killed. Not my style, but may be for you if you get a kick out of hurting cute, cuddly kittens. :P
With that out of the way, here is a list (in no particular order) of the top 30 movies and games that I saw for the first time this month. I know it's long and you probably won't want to see it all in one sitting but you can just watch one or two whenever you feel bored and then keep the rest for another day.
PS. If I feel it has particular relevance or is exceptionally good I will include sequels, pre-equals and such to the listed submission but otherwise will not bother.
My top picks for April are:
1. Sloppy Fight 2 Uber-powered stick men fight each other for no apparent reason. <grins> Everyone loves a good fight movie.
2. The Beer Song video A humorous music video about the wonders of beer. Did you know that beer is liquid bread, it's good for you? I sure didn't until I watched this.
3. Windows AIDS GAME! Obviously the maker of this has had many frustrations with Windows XP and I can certainly relate. If you've ever had any troubles with the operating system you should play this (be sure to try everything). From logging into your account, to playing Minesweeper, to shut down. Nothing goes right.
4. Stop it kids A unique little, sprite style, music video in the Thai language. I liked the music in it and the animation wasn't bad either.
2008 self: BLAMMED??? I loved this one. I'm writing the author to find out what happened. Hopefully I'll find an alternative location later or something.
5. XIN Session 01 A new episode was released this month. I could have posted that but decided to give the first instead. The series starts out slow, starts getting interesting by part 3 and by part 6 onward I think the writer has fully gotten into his grove. Collectively, it turns out to be the best, full animation, action series I have seen in Newgrounds. Not only is there plenty of fighting but it has a progressively growing storyline and plenty of twists and turns, schemes and rivalries. I love it! Taking place in a world where conformity, corruption, and corporal punishment have taken over the public education system and one student has been brought in by the teachers to try and stop it. Part 1 of a 9 part series and it has a sequel (starting on chapter 10) series that is half way through after your done with the first. to get a complete listing of all the current animations go to:
- Series / XIN There are currently 15 submissions for this on the Newgrounds Series page. Parts 1 through 9 are a complete story and 10 onward are a single sequel that is being built. Highly recommended, if you like the first one set aside at LEAST a half hour to watch the rest because this will take awhile.
2008 Self: The series is done now.
6. History of the F' Word The F word isn't as bad as people make it out to be. Here in this instructive flash you find out how wonderful it really is. I think this may be one of the funniest things you'll find around here. SERIOUSLY!!! When I watched it the first time, I laughed the whole way through.
7. Pope for a Day What would YOU do if you were pope for the day? Probably not what this woman did. What did she do? Well, watch the flash and find out already.
8. Maelstrom GAME! You have a ship that is surrounded by asteroids and other nasty things. Destroy them all and go to the next level. A fun, simple and additive game to play. Also, if your a Macintosh buff, this game is an almost perfect recreation of the original Maelstrom game for the system. There are a few bugs (if you have a machine gun fire you can create a ghost asteroid when you kill it) but still very enjoyable and your high score is saved even after you shut down.
9. Fri Short #1 Wheel Chair Just a short little funny of a guy that's on a wheel chair that's about to crash. that's good for a chuckle.
10. TSG - Xtreme GAME! It's a shell game. As the level increases the coconuts move faster and little cow distractions pop up. How long can you keep your eye on the ball?
11. Homers Special Who doesn't love the Simpsons? In this we get selected quotes and songs from the famous series. Ahh, so many memories. Also see
- Simpson's Soundboard V.2 for more selections. I really love the songs from these two flashes.
2008self: A soundboard, I doubt I would add one of those today. Certainly not for this.
12. Demolition Squid Plays like an action movie trailer. The premiss is totally ridiculous but that's what makes it so entertaining.
13. K&K Breakfast the animation isn't very good but I adored the humor. First in a series.
- K&K-Cat Problems
- K&K: Any Morning
- K&K: Finale The first one I saw. If I had been able I would I have given it a vote for one of the top submissions of the month. I really, REALLY like this series.
2008self: Still one of the funniest series I have come across.
14. Bob Ross Has a Mental I remember watching those little shows where the artist paints on a canvas and makes silly comments ("and now I'll add a happy little bush" and such) so I got a kick out of this one.
15. Monty Python Songs V2 I am a huge fan of everything that is Monty Python related. I love their humor and as this shows, they have made lots of neat little ditties. Enjoy!
16. Trix:Complete Breakfast 1 Start's with a plea from the cerial spokepersons (such as 'Lucky' from 'Frosted Lucky Charms') to just let the Rabbit have some Trixs! Then the actual show starts. After the airing of the Trix Rabbit Justice Ad, sleeper agents from General Mills and Nestle have joined forces to attempt to rid the world of Trix rabbit and his quest to have a taste of his own cereal. Things look bad for that silly rabbit :( lol
17. Starfighter GAME! Starfighter is a top down view, space shoot em up, flash game. You control a Class A Starfighter and have to use it to complete 30 varied missions. You will be rewarded an amount of money depending on how difficult the level is thought to be, and you may spend this money on upgrades and various weaponry. It's very well done and a good challange.
18. Things that dont mix The title says it. A simple animation that gives a funny look at things that just DON'T mix.
19. NANATHON! Poor Nana has been kidnapped and will be killed unless enough people give to the extortion/pledge drive that is underway to save the poor old lady. Part one of two.
- Nanathon Reloaded Will Nana survive? Find out here.
20. PRESENT A beautiful, touching movie about an elementary-school girl and boy who have been friends for a long time. It's foreign, subtitled and not at all funny but don't let that scare you off because it's worth a watch.
21. Creativity It's the amusing story of a slacker and his computer project. Still pictures of the actual creator (this isn't an animation) are used in a stylish manner with a little more then few brushstroke movements and of course, audio narration to keep your attention.
22. MC Hawking: Music Video Steven Hawking is a rapper/superhero (in addition to being a genius scientist) who will rap his way into your heart but can he stop the evil plan of... The FUNDAMENTALIST??? By the way, if you like the song, the artist behind this creation is selling a cd with that song and a few other ones.
23. The AntiClockClock Show you may have noticed the reviews people leave for the animations you are watching. Anticlock has made a funny flash devoted to replying to some of his detractors that slammed other movies he made. It can be a little confusing at first listening to Anticlock read the review out before replying. Just remember when reviewing, first comes your name, then you type a short comment, then give a score, then you type another comment after which can be short or long depending on your mood. The subtitles will have the review part in quotes and Anticlock's own replies without them if you still feel lost. First of a series.
- The AntiClockClock Show 2
24. Water out of the Toilet Showing your dog the hip, cool and ultimately better way to drink water. lol
25. The Billy Goats Gruff An interesting take on the children's tale, "Three Billy Goats Gruff".
26. Black Jellybean 3 Cat like creature gives his views on things. In today's episode he wants to be the new pope :).
27. Review: Alien vs Predator Like the title says, a lighthearted, fun review of the Theatrical film A vs P.
28. The Hatta' The latest Foamy (see first link email issue for previous episodes) cartoon. Foamy has a new friend that get all on your face, yo.
29. Eurodance Robot Dancer GAME! Just a short little fun thing. Press "Rap" "Dance" "Groove" or "Jam" to trigger musical layers and robot moves.
30. The Real Mortal Kombat 1 "Mortal Combat" is a fighting game that was also made into a few movies and even a short lived TV show. Anyway, put these dangerous personalities in a sitcom setting where they live together and you get the basic idea.
Wow! Thirty submissions I wasn't sure I'd get this many quality things to put in. Actually, I have a few more but you have to draw the line somewhere right? Now it's time for my favorite part. Here are five MORE flashes that I have known about for awhile and have really enjoyed. It's really tough keeping this down to five because, as you can see, there is so much good stuff in here that comes on a monthly basis that I could go on and on without running out but I think it's best just to give a small sampling of things. Anyway:
1. YAAFM 10: 50 Cent The latest in an EXTREMELY amusing series that roasts one overrated celebrity a show. In today's episode we go after 50 Cent (he's a gansta rapper millionaire).
- You are a F*cking Moron series Going after Michael Jackson, George W. Bush and others that you love to hate.
2. Magical Trevor A funny and VERY catchy rhyming music video featuring everyone's favorite magician, Magical Trevor. YAY! First of a series
- Magical Trevor2
- Magical Trevor ( Punk ) This one actually isn't a sequel so much as a grunge rock parody of the original Magical Trevor. It's an interesting take on it and well done.
3. For the love of NGBG This animation was a collaboration of three artists. That means that has three different animations in it, each made by a different author. When you get to the intro screen (a part that I like actually, it has a looping, short, soft jazz that is very enjoyable to hear) there are three characters. I recommend this solely on the strength of the purple headed woman feature which features a light hearted and kind of sweet romantic/action bit to the song "Impression That I Get". I wish it was longer. I watched that many times. It was just so darn infectious. The mime one, on the other hand, is totally random, long, nonsensical and ultimatly, unappealing (has kind of a neat hard rock song for most of it though). The blue dino one is just plain awful in my view.
4. Stone Trek: Episode 1 This is an animated webtoon series that imagines what "Star Trek" might have looked like on "the Flintstones" television set. As far as I am concerned, it's a perfect blending so if you love those two shows you will LOVE this combination. OMG this is good. Part one of two. There are other episodes of you like this.
- Stone Trek: Episode 2
- Stone Trek series Easier to visit the makers website to see all the episodes currently published. As always, this is worth watching.
5. T.V. Sex Pals Every parent dreads having "the talk" with their child. fortunately now you don't have to just have the little tike watch this series and all his/her questions will be answered. Feel free to thank me anytime for the service I have provided you :D
- T.V. Sex Pals Episode 2
- T.V. Sex Pals Episode 3
- T.V. Sex Pals Episode 4

That's all for this month. Stay tuned for the May edition!
Updated: 09/11/09 11:20 PM 0 comments | Log in to comment! | Share this! Here's the scoop. I had a collection for a long time of a few flashes I really enjoyed and didn't want to lose track of so I put them in a draft email. That was okay for a while but in February, Newgrounds started a monthly contest and the 5 winners of each month would win 250$. This inspired me to take this idea and save those five submissions and then post a collection of my own along with it. This is the result. From now until I grow tired, I will save the top five monthly submissions for the month, along with a collection of my personal favorites.
I only started this at the end of March and didn't really build up a collection unfortunately. So the selection is a LOT more sparse ( I don't even have any personal favorites for that month) then the rest of my write ups will be.
The 5 top Newgrounds submission winners for the month of February are:
1. Interactive Buddy v.1.01 GAME! A game where you beat this poor little bubble unkilable guy and the more you do the more money you make so you can buy new items to beat hi up with.
2. Bunnykill 2 a fight movie one bunny goes to assinate another bunny and kills a while lot of bunnies that stand in his way. Sequel to
- Bunnykill
3. -Play- about a dozen people making regular sounds (clapping, stamping, bouncing a ball) make interesting music.
4. Valentine's Day Special Man gets a valentine from a co-worker he likes. Prepare for a twist. Bit gruesome for me. But definably different.
5. X-Men:Dark Phoenix Rising It's about the x-Men specifically but in a more general since it points out the ridiculous plotlines that comics tend to employ. Sequel too
- X-Men: Death Becomes Them
The top 5 monthly winners for the month of March are:
1. There she is!! step 2 A personal favorite of mine. It's a Korean music video (the author is from South Korea) where a cat is trying to get a cake to his bunny girlfriend's birthday and all the obstacles that get in his way. It's the sequel to
- There she is!!!" which you should watch first really, if only because it's so good and you can see how the animator has improved in his ability. Find out how the cat and bunny got together in the first place <smiles>
2. Madness Depredation It's a fight movie and a good one. One man (manlike thing anyway) against relentless hoards in a truly surreal setting. Madness indeed. This is part of a VERY popular series (it has an entire page devoted to it). Check out the entire series (and a few other animations) at
- Madness collection
3. The Real Legend of Zelda2 Watch our hero Link as a hopeless incompetent and his fairy Navi (who never lets him forget it) while they journey to save the world from Gannondorf. I found it very humorous and I am a big fan of the game it is based on. Sequel to
- The Real Legend You can enjoy Zelda2 without it but better if you watch it first.
4. Rise of the MK: Part 4 Mario's brother Luigi was killed by Wart. Mario declares war on him. When the movie starts mario as already killed some of Wart's minions. Will Mario kill Wart? Will the princess get a 1up mushroom and save Luigi? Find out. I didn't mind this one but didn't really captivate me. I will, however give a nod to the man eating Yoshies cause that was just frikken cool. Sequel to
- Rise of the MK: Part 1
- Rise of the MK: Part 2
- Rise of the MK:Part 3
It has a fairly long and connected story. It helps if you watch the other movies.
5. A New Bunny Two best friends meet a new bunny. This is one of the most foul mouthed cartoons your likely to see. Which is it's main claim to fame.
Other Movies and series that I saw for the first time this month and enjoyed are:
1. Hangman ++ GAME! It's hangman the game. It's a nice little diversion and surprisingly hard (even on the easy level, for me anyway. Grrrr)
2. Stick Vs Human 2 A weird live action movie with real people fighting cartoon stick figures. Might be worth a look. Then again maby not. Second in a series of 3 (so far)
- Stick Vs Human
- Stick Vs Human 3
3. Evil Josh & Billy Part one of a series about two evil doers. Billy, the mad scientist, and Josh, the criminal mastermind. In today's episode, Billy creates an evil spoon. Love the humor, this is really cute.
- Evil Josh & Billy: Ep. 02
- Evil Josh & Billy: Ep. 03
- Evil Josh & Billy: Ep. 04
- Evil Josh & Billy: Ep. 05
4. Papalote++ Music video about a boy with a kite that lifts them both into the air when he tried to fly it. Classical music. Nice animation AND it's rated G :P
5. Motherload GAME! A nice slow demo game where you dig for minerals, sell them and upgrade your vehicle.
6. TmsT's Zero Wing Rhapsody Man, I like this. It's another Music video. A parody of Queen's Rhapsody actually. The animation and words (which can be downloaded after the video is finished, if your interested) are all based on the flash below (or rather, the game the flash below was based one).
- All yor base r blong 2 us This video is a famous parody of the poorly translated intro to "Zero Wing" for the Sega Genesis that was released about 15 years ago. One day a person made this flash based on the most famous line of it. Not the best of submissions but interesting and you see what TmsT's is based on.
7. Grim Reaper Show 5 The latest (and apparently, final) installment in an amusing saga. Death comes to reap the souls of the dead and soon to be dead. This guy's got a hilarious vision of the spiritual life I recommend all the movies of this series and you can check out the rest at
- Grim Reaper Show Series
Plus, here's 4 flashes that I've known about for awhile longer and just wanted to add in. After all, there is so much older metrials in here you are truly missing out if you don't examine it:
1. Final Fantasy A+ Was an end of year project for a Japanese language course (don't worry the translation is written in) all the characters speak Japanese, in fact all the characters are the same voice actor, he did them all. A young boy must lean how to battle monsters and save the school from an evil force. A superb animation.
2. Teach Me Frog snuff film. Done in the old cinema style of silent movies. Okay, this is also a bit(!) depraved. More dark humor.
3. Creature Watch an family get eaten alive, in a spooky tale reminiscent of an old ghost story! Yep, something for the whole family to watch, especially the kids. Do it right before bedtime. PS, it's not my fault if they can't get to sleep for a few hours after. <evil grin>
and last but absolutely not least
4. "From my Room" This movie sends a tingle through my body every time I watch it. Some call it the best thing on NG and I might just agree- what do you think? A MUST WATCH!!!
#####
That's all for now. Stay tuned for the next submission. Which will be the first time I have spent the whole month going through the flashes I watch with an eye to write them up in here.
Till next time,
Toma O'Two
Updated: 09/11/09 11:20 PM 0 comments | Log in to comment! | Share this!April 07 is the last month I have posted for the "Undiscovered gems" contest. Just reminding myself.
Hi everyone, welcome to my first Newgrounds blog. This is where I will be moving my montly, NG flash collections that I have been saving for a few years, in my email inbox. The first year or so, I have little discriptions and I pruned my lists so they were no more then 30 flashes long, plus the montly 5 winners and some additional flashes that may or may not be from a particular month. I thought this a solid number when starting. Later on, I got tired of working through it all so I'll be having longer lists with no discriptions on them since I didn't prune my favorites from them. I hope you enjoy, as I have, every animation on this list.
My first group is in a diffferent format then the rest will be. This is because it was simply a series of various animations that I enjoyed and added. It wasn't really a a "list" list. I was not watching flashes every month and saving them like I did later on. So I call this one my "0" issue.
The Flashes:
1.99K A cute film that is under 100K, the author wanted to prove that you didn't need a big file size to make a decent animation and he proved it in spades with this. It is a weird little blue guys that fights for survival in a cutesy way. Neat little preloader game. Spawned 2 sequels.
-Love, Wink
-Wink: Insatiable Appetite
2. The Return of Ganondorf This is simply the funniest Zelda parody EVER. The villain has reformed his wicked ways after being defeated by our hero... or has he? Great, GREAT stuff.
3. -The Pan- A great stick deathtrap movie. Seven stick men must navigate over perils to survive.
2008 self: I loved the song that played for most of this animation but the author changed it. It really makes this a less enjoyable animation for me. I hope he changes it back.
4. Bar Fight! Ah clamation. Where do I begin on this particular Genre? This one is a bunch of blue clay people getting into a big bar fight. Much mayhem and death will ensue. The author, Knox, keeps cranking this stuff out and I love it all.
5. The Hummer A Hummer jeep kills purple people to the song 'Always Look on the Bright Side of Life'
6. Soft Outer Crust #22 SICK humor. In this episode, the guys are out on a camp trip and one of them will have an unfortunate encounter with a sodomizing bear. This is a popular Newgrounds series and has a page devoted to it. If you liked this episode check out the rest at
-Outer Crust Series
7. Drivin' man and cat driving and listen to music. Kind of slow, and it's a subtle humor. If nothing else, I like the song though.
8. Halloween 2000 - VGDC A Jason horror that uses video, not cartoon. First live action movie I ever saw on the site. Not really my type of movie but I was impressed by the uniqueness of it.
9. 3D brothers I it's 3d. blue tries to kill red lol. Very nice animation graphics, all in 3D, which was the reason I added it.
(2008 self: I like this one much less then I remember liking it before....)
10. D.I.Y Jedi Just try to be a fan if star wars without wishing you could use a lightsaber. A real movie with people fighting a lightsaber battle. A must for anyone that's ever imagined what it would be like to do so.
11. Yes & No Hilarious stick amine on the do's and don'ts of driving. This was the first animation I can ever remember watching. I think this is what had me find Newgrounds in the first place. I don't remember. Anyway it's definably a favorite of mine.
2008 self: this movie got blammed. BLAMMED! I can't believe the changes that have happened to some of this stuff I enjoyed so much. IT was up long before I ever found it. How could it be blammed. This was such an important flash to me.
12. Waterman it's like the 'Family Guy' cartoon. If you like that show (and I do) then you'll love this. Exact same sort of humor and first of a series. You can check out the rest at
-Waterman collection
13. Foamy's Rant Foamy ROCKS, he's my new lord and master! in this episode, everyone's favorite talking squirrel bitches about life. HE says what you want to :P This is another big Newgrounds series.
2008 self talking: I really used to enjoy this series. Now, its taken over by a bunch of jack off humor. IT's gotten really crude and discusting most of the time. What happened to you Foamy?
- Foamy Series
14. Jonny Rocketfingers The most suppish stick hero ever. It's a movie with multiple choice areas. Lots of fun. If your a sensitive feminist type, you may be offended *cough*. The writer also is a big fan of the Ren and Stimpy cartoons and you can see elements of that in this.
15. the Void II best clock style movie ever. drama, humor, music, excellent visuals. This is a total treat to view. No praise I could give this would be too high. Plus after you finish watching it, watch it again. The minor characters will all change. I have no idea how he did that and if you look closly you'll notice that the clocks in the flash are actually keeping the correct time (not sure what time zone but it's correct) down to the second. UNBELIEVABLE!!!
Some might be put off by the robot but voices after awhile It'll seem natural to hear these fruits talk like that. They are the one of the biggest group creations to newgrounds if not the biggest and they pop up in many places.. Sequel to
- The void I
16. ORANGE'S CLOCKMAS SPECIAL a really funny Christmas (sort of) song, heh.
#####
I could add and add to this but I will stop because I am now doing a monthly posting of new flashes I have discovered in a given month plus an additional five old favorites until I run out <grins>.
Till next time...
Toma O'Two
